Who are we?
ESERCOM-D follows an interdisciplinary approach to reach its objectives. Nine partners from five European countries (Austria, Finland, Italy, Hungary, Spain) combine technical expertise in the fields of EGNSS localization, mobile mapping, autonomous driving and I2V communication with knowledge from road operators and logistics providers. The main objective of ESERCOM-D is to facilitate standardization efforts through the implementation of a demonstrable service, which fosters greener and smarter road usage, optimizes road maintenance, and increases road safety. In doing so, the automation of the complete chain from road condition monitoring to smart decision making will be demonstrated.
Based on the capabilities and strong industrial background of the consortium ESERCOM-D has a clear potential to define a credible path for commercialization of products and services out of its achievements. These plans will involve the establishment of strategic partnerships with partners from inside and outside the consortium.
JRD plays a pivotal role in precision localization and mobile mapping, focusing on advanced GNSS technologies and high-accuracy mapping solutions. They specializes in precision localization for sensor vehicles, complementing real-time positioning. Additionally, they advance automated semantic object extraction through the Intelligent Vision Applications team integrating features like lane, traffic sign, and crack detection into mapping workflows and contributing to international standardization in AI and multimedia coding.
Development and evaluation of automated driving functions and systems is the research focus of VIF. The competence center has the available laboratory infrastructure and competence to implement prototype driving functions and modify them for testing and evaluation.
As the Austrian highway operator, ASFINAG will support the project by providing access to their C-ITS infrastructure (EGNSS correction data and lane change recommendations) and domain knowledge. They will host parts of the Data Management Platform in an operational IT-environment.
FGI is responsible for the coordination of the overall GNSS-related activities in the project. This includes the active participation in, and supervision of, the system architecture design, ensuring that it supports actual and future applications requiring high accuracy in alignment with existing standards and proposing enhancements as needed. In addition, it is responsible for the design, implementation, testing, characterization and demonstration of the positioning system of the end-user vehicle, including the use of RTK, Galileo HAS and OSNMA.
The logistics department of the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FHO – Logistikum) represents the stakeholder view of transport logistics on the road and will actively conduct the tests and impact assessment of the ESERCOM-D outcomes.
Evolit Consulting GmbH (EVO) supports the development of ESERCOM-D Road Wear Data Platform including its In- and Outgoing data-streams, applying its experience in the development of tailored software, backend systems, infrastructural setup, and machine learning. In addition, EVO leads the Data Management Plan, ensuring compliance with FAIR principles and addressing data privacy, protection, and ethical considerations,
Fundació Enide (ENI) leads the stakeholder engagement and dissemination activities. ENI is responsible for communication strategies, public outreach, and fostering connections with relevant stakeholders to promote the project’s objectives. Additionally, ENI supports the coordination of standardization efforts, ensuring that the project’s outcomes align with international standards and facilitate broader adoption across the European road infrastructure sector.
The Mobility and Transport Laboratory of the Politecnico di Milano will support ESERCOM-D Project with his experience and expertise in mobility impact evaluation of ITS and C-ITS. They will focuses on standardisation tasks.
